Art=Visual is located in historic, downtown Decatur. Founded in 1823, Decatur is the seat of DeKalb County. Decatur adjoins Atlanta's city limits six miles east of Atlanta's central business district.
Decatur is one of Atlanta's hippest communities and provides "big city" living without the crowds. There seems to be more restaurants than people and plenty of shops and boutiques. You can even catch live musical performances at Eddie's Attic, a cozy venue that has launched the careers of John Mayer, Sugarland, Shawn Mullins, Josh Joplin, Billy Pilgrim, Kristen Hall, Caroline Aiken, Michelle Malone, and Matthew Kahler. All of this is within two blocks of Art=Visual's classroom.
If you're coming from out-of-town, stay at the Holiday Inn on Clairmont Road or the Sycamore Bed and Breakfast and you can walk to class. You don't even need a rental car, as we'll be glad to pick you up at the airport. There's no need to even go to Atlanta. But in case you do want to see the sights, Stone Mountain Park is just a half hour away, as is all of downtown Atlanta.
The Decatur MARTA station is also two blocks from our classroom.
